An Outsourcing Quantitative Model considering Interdependence Hidden Cost between parts case study manufacturing of CNG s compressor Ali Ahmadi Dastjerdi a ahmadidastjerdi@in iut ac ir Date of Submission 2011 02 01 Department of Industrial Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Ali Shahandeh ali nook@cc iut ac ir Abstract Finding of suitable resource is the most important issues in supply chain In this regard several sterategies has been offered by decision makers Outsourcing is one of these sterategies that has been offered in recent years In order to improve the quality of services and products reducing cost and production time focusing on core competetive adventage companies are using the outsoursing sterategy companies are outsourcing their activities to other specialized organisations and focusing on activities that create higher added value so that can maximize the effectiveness of their activities In this thesis a decision making process for outsourcig parts of a product is presented In this process potential parts for outsourcing are prioritized by means of analytical hirerchy process AHP The factors affecting the outsourcing decision making have been subdivided into two categories non compensatory and compensatory factor Potential parts for outsourcing is determined by noncompensatory factor such as without protection classification non competitive adventage to be a capable supplier in supply market and non monopoly supply market Compencatory factors are subdivided into two categories positive adventage and negative risk factors Positive factors are those which support the decision making to outsource and can be called as drivers for outsourcing Positive factors which is used in decision making process are cost reduction reduced capital expenditure focus on main activity and access to new knowledge and technology Negative factors are those criteria which don t propose outsourcing and therefore these can be named as concerns for outsourcing Negative factor which is used in decision making process are condition of supply market loss of control access to sterategic information and create competitor Compencetory factors are used in analytical hirerchy process to prioritize the potential parts for outsourcing Then a zero one linear programming model is developed to determine the type of source insource outsource and appropriate supplier simultaneously In this model suppliers are evaluated with respect to evaluation criteria such as quality on time delivery price and cost of transportation by taguchi loss function The results of AHP is used in objective function Also interdependence costs between parts is considered in model This outsourcing decision making model is applied and implemented in the factory which is producing CNG s compressor Finally in order to evaluate the robostness of the model sensitivity analysis is done and the results is shown Keywords Supply chain outsourcing analytical hirerchy process taguchi loss function interdependence cost zero one linear programming
