The Evaluation of Post Emergence Herbicides in Broadleaf Weeds Control in Linseed Vahid Kanani Vahid kanani@yahoo com September 11 2011 College of Agriculture Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor s H Karimmojeni E mail address K mojeni @cc iut ac irAbstractA field experiment was conducted in 2010 at Isfahan University research field in Isfahan Iran to evaluate the effects of different herbicides on broadleaf weeds in linseed Ten herbicidestreatments along with weedy and weed free controls were arranged in a randomized completeblock design with four replications Herbicides treatments included 2 4 D 1 5 L ha from U46 D fluid 2 4 D MCPA 1 L ha from U 46 D combi fluid Dichloprop p Mecoprop MCPA 2 L ha from Duplosan Super Bromoxynil 2 L ha from brominal bromoxynil pluscytogate 1 5 L ha from brominal 0 002 v v Bromoxynil MCPA 1 5 L ha fromBromaicide MA Bentazone 3 L ha from basagran Bentazone 2 L ha from basagran Bentazone plus cytogate 1 5 L ha from Basagran 0 002 v v and Terbutryn triaasulfuron 200 g ha from Logran extra These post emergence herbicides were applied at the four leafstage of linseed plants Hand weeding was done in weed free plots as check treatment continuously over the growing season Weeds Sampling was done by using a 0 5 0 5 mquadrat four times a week before the application of the herbicides 15 and 30 days afterherbicides application and at maturity Weed species in each sample were identified and theirdensity and dry matter were measured Plant height number of branches per plant capsulenumber and capsule weight per plant 1000 seed weight seed yield plant dry matter harvestindex were measured for the linseed plants The percentage of seed Oil and protein were alsodetermined Weeds competiton reduced seed yield of linseed by 67 The dominant weedsspecies were Eruca sativa L Cruciferae and Convolvulus arvensis L Convolvulacea interms of density Most herbicides had good efficiency in reduction of density and dry matter ofthe weeds There were significant decrease in linseed and yield components of linseed inDuplosan super and Logran extra treatments becuase of their phytotoxicity effecton linseeds Therefore these herbicides can not be appropriate herbicide to weeds control in linseed Bromaicide M Aherbicide Despite having good efficiency in weed control inhibitis linseedgrowth and thus did not increase yield Tank mixture ofcytogate as an adjuvant withbromoxinil in the recommended rate 1 5 L ha from brominal improved its weed controlefficiency However adding cytogate to Bentazone at reduced dosage 1 5 L ha could notincrease its efficiecy The results of this study showed that weed control traeatments includingBentazone 3 L ha bromoxynil cytogate 1 5 l ha 0 002 v v and 2 4 D MCPA 1L ha are the best choice for weed control in linseed production Key words Linseed herbicide weeds control yield
