Evaluation of Genetic Diversity Induced by Gamma Radiation in Rapeseed Using Microsatellite Marker and Morphological Traits Seyedeh Mozhgan abtahi froushani Mozhganabtahi@yahoo com Date of submission February 4 2012 Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M SC Language FarsiSuperviser Ahmad Arzani a arzani@ cc iut ac irAbstractThis research was conducted to assess genetic diversity induced by gamma raysin rapeseed using morphological and molecular approaches and to identifyuseful mutants in terms of morphophenological traits yield and yieldcomponents in 2010 2011 M2 mutant lines derived from two spring rapeseed RGS003 and Sarigol cultivars treated by 1200 GY gamma ray irradiationalong with controls were evaluated in the field The results of analysis ofvariance revealed highly significant differences among mutant lines andinduction of significant genetic variation in the studied traits According togenetic parameters number of pods per plant and number of seeds per podpossessed the highest induced variation in mutant lines belonging to Sarigolcultivar Based on the results of phenotypic and genetic correlations 1000 seedweight had the highest relationship with seed yield per plant Stepwiseregression analysis also showed that 1000 seed weight was one of the mostimportant traits contributing in yield Cluster analysis using means ofagronomic traits of four treatments 32 mutant lines of RGS003 30 mutant linesof Sarigol RGS003 and Sarigol divided mutant lines and cultivars into theseparate groups Moreover cluster analysis using 62 mutant lines and twocontrols divided the genotypes into 5 groups which was also confirmed by Fbill test Likewise analysis of variance indicated that variation among groupswas greater than variation within groups Mutant line 26 of Sarigol was clusterdin a separate group which can be explained by it s superior viz number of podsper plant number of seeds per pod and seed yield per plant Consideringinduced genetic variation benefitical for improving agronomic traits M2 lines 9of RGS003 and 16 25 and 26 of Sarigol could be suggested as the most useful
