Analysis of Bifurcation and Chaos in Discrete Time Neural Networks Saeed Farjami farjami36@yahoo com 09 05 2012 Department of Mathematical Sciences Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Supervisor Dr Reza Mazrooei Sebdani mazrooei@cc iut ac ir Advisor Dr Hamid Reza Zohouri Zangeneh hamidz@cc iut ac ir 2010 MSC 39A28 39A33 39A60 Keywords Neural Network Bifurcation Chaos Stability Delay Discrete Time Abstract This thesis is an extension and generalization of the works done by Kaslik and Balint 32 35 and Shu and Wei 52 Since in most cases and specially in applications the internal decay of the neurons are dif ferent therefore in this thesis we have extended and generalized the Hop eld neural networkwith ring structures with equal internal decays to a neural network with di erent internaldecays We also have generalized and extended the bidirectional associative memory BAM with three neurons to a system with p 1 neurons A bifurcation analysis is undertaken for these discrete time neural networks with multipledelays The stability domains of the null solution for each system is found the critical valuesof the characteristic parameters for which the characteristic equation has root or roots onthe unit circle and bifurcations occur at the origin are identi ed In several lemmas weinvestigated properties of these critical values and necessary conditions to occur bifurcationfor them Then according to type of eigenvalue or eigenvalues which are on the unit circle the
