۴ Determine Regional Relations Intensity Duration Freqency Rainfall Used a Simple Scaling Model Razi Helfi Email Address r helfi@na iut ac ir ۶ September Department of Natural Resources Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan ۴ ۵۶ Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dr S Soltani Koupai ssoltani@cc iut ac ir AbstractThe intensity duration frequency IDF curves play most important role in watershedmanagement flood control and hydraulic design of structures Conventional method forcalculating the IDF curves needs hourly rainfall data in different durations which is notextensively available in many regions Instead ۴ hour precipitation statistics weremeasured in most rain gauge stations In this study scaling properties of extreme rainfallare examined to derive scaling IDF curves over different durations This new method in comparison with traditional method is less computational steps andhas lower parameters numbers which causes increasing in reliability of IDF curves Scalingmethod was used to extract the IDF curves in rain gauge station in Khuzestan provincelocated in southwest Iran and results proved the efficiency and robustness of the scalingmethod Also ability of scaling concept method was examined in constructing of regionalIDF
