Fast ignition fusion Asiye Panahy Dorbaty a panahy@ph iut ac ir Date of Submission Department of Physics Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Dr Akbar Parvazian Parvazin@cc iut ac ir Abstract Fast ignition method in inertial confinement fusion ICF is very important In this method the compression and ignition are separated In fast ignition method D T fuel is pre compressing by laser or ion beams In the second step of irradiation relativistic electron the Aluminum layer located in front of the D T fuel target These electrons penetrate in high dense fuel immediately Then energy deposition of these electrons leads to heat a small area in the target up to keV Finally this process is leading to ignite the D T fuel In this work fast ignition method in spherical and cylindrical fuel chambers are investigated and transportion of the relativistic electrons are calculated by using MCNPX code Electron flux and energy deposition rate in the D T fuel target are calculated Our computions are us to MeV Calculations show that electrons with energy of about MeV are apropriate to heat the fuel up to MeV In order to generate MeV electrons we have investigated laser interactions in the Aluminum layer of the target For this purpose we have written a Fortran program to investigate laser plasma interaction in Aluminum layer of the target The results of this consideration show a laser beam with and pulse duration in picosecond can produced MeV electrons in which needed in this process Keywords Fusion balls Inertia Method fast ignition Energy efficiency PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www pdffactory com
