Synthesis of Nanosuperthermite via Sol Gel Method for Enregetic Fuel Application Masoud Mohamadi Masoud mohamadi 66@yahoo com Date of Submission 8 June 2013 Department of Chemical Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Seyyed Mohammad Ghoreishi ghoreshi@cc iut ac ir Abstract In this research Tungsten oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by sol gel method Using sol gel method nanoparticles can be produced with the same sizes Raw materials of this method are hydrated salt or metal chloride which are cheap and abundant In this study materials which were used are as follows Tungsten di chloride di oxide WO2Cl2 Ethanol with high purity Cyclo hexane distilled water and Trimethyloxetane TMO as a gelation factor After producing gel It was washed for 3 days by pure Ethanol Subsequently the gel was washed again for 2 days by Cyclo hexane Thereafter produced gels was dried for 3 days in vacuum oven at temperature of 210 C and pressure of 10 mbar The produced powders scanning Electron Microscope SEM Transmission Electron Microscope TEM Thermo Gravimeter Analysis TGA and XRD had been done on Subsequently their results showed that crystallized particles WO3 are present in the wo3 also almost peaks in XRD patterns are related to Tungsten oxide Nanoxide purity was determined 94 according to Thermo Gravimetry Analysis TGA Synthesized particles at temperature of 210 C formed in shape of square and angularity that it is determined by Scanning Electron Microscope SEM test After synthesis of Tangusten nanoxide energizing nanocomposite Thermite was synthesized Energizing materials are substances which store chemical energy in a fixed volume Examples of the energizing materials are explosive flammable materials The reaction is started by mechanical or thermal stimulation In addition the energy is released as heat Thermite materials including fuel and oxidizer are mixed together In this research oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by sol gel method using aluminum nanoparticles with a particle size of about 30 nm by mixing in a ultrasound devices in cyclo hexane for 3 min With this oxidizer Tungsten nanoxide three modes including stoichiometric quantitative fuel rich and fuel rich prepared and then were characterized Scanning Electron Microscope SEM Transmission Electron Microscope TEM Thermo Geravimetery Analysis TGA DTA and XRD tests were done for distribution pattern of particles morphology size of particles reaction temperature and final products respectively SEM test results showed that the synthesized particles were in the nanometer scale and had high integrity Scanning TEM test which take photo from inside of samples is determined the measure size of synthesized particle which synthesized at 210 to be lover with 100 nm and shape of them formed cubic and angularity Reaction temperature of nanoparticle Aluminum and Tungsten nanoxide is determined to be 550 600 C by heating analysis test DTA and main products of reaction were determined Tungsten and Aluminum oxide Keywords Sol Gel Tungsten nanoxide NanoAluminum Thermite PDF created with pdfFactory trial version www pdffactory com
