Improvement and implementation of high voltage resonant converters forelectrostatic precipitator Mojtaba jalali Mohajer teg@yahoo com Date of Submission Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Hosein Farzanehfard hosein@cc iut ac irAbstractOne the major challenges in industries has been the environmental pollution This has been due toinsufficient efficiency of dust filtration systems lack of appropriate legal requirements and lack ofsufficient knowledge of environmental issues in the past Industrial duster systems in the past had aconsiderable expense that many owners were not able to afford The main contributors to pollution inindustry include steel production cement kilns cement mills and pollution from their fuel With increasingdemand for clean environment development of air cleaning systems has received increasing attention Oneof the most advanced methods for filtering the dust pollution is applying electrostatic precipitator ESP Animportant part of each ESP is its high voltage section to absorb the dust pollution Usually high frequencyswitching converters are used to create the required high voltage Several topologies are introduced in thepapers for this purpose which is reviewed in this thesis In order to improve the conventional converters anew converter is introduced The proposed converter is composed of a boost converter and high step upLLC resonant converter As a result the switch voltage rating is optimal and also soft switching condition ismaintained for a wide range of load variations Furthermore due to applying the boost stage thetransformer size is reduced The advantages of the proposed converter are discussed and the validity of thetheoretical analysis is justified using simulation and experimental results Keywords Electrostatic filters Efficiency High voltage Boost converter Resonant converters
