Stability Analysis of Synchronous State of Chaotic Systems by Matrix Measure Method Sayyed Saeed Hoseini ss hoseini@ph iut ac ir 09 21 2013 Department of Physics Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Dr Keyvan Aghababaei Samani samani@cc iut ac irAbstractIn this thesis we first introduce dynamical systems Dynamical systems fall into two categories ofcontinuous time and discrete time systems Continuous time systems are described by differentialequations and discrete time systems are described by maps In some cases it is impossible to obtainan analytical solution to the equations describing the systems showing a complex behavior Chaoticsystems and logistic maps which are discrete time systems are considered Lyapunov exponents areused as a tool to study chaos in various systems Synchronization may occur not only in periodicoscillators but also in chaotic oscillators and in maps which have non periodic and unpredictable dy namics which are sensitive to the initial conditions Different types of synchronization and stabilitiesof synchronous state are described Complex networks along with four categories of networks in cluding regular small world scale free and random are described and synchronization of networksare investigated for some logistic maps Furthermore stability of synchronous state was studied us ing master stability function method and matrix measure method Initially the coupling function isdefined as the difference between two logistic maps and in the general case coupling function is de fined as the difference between two arbitrary functions and different choices for coupling functionare examined Investigations are carried out using Matlab software In matrix measure method thedependence of stability on logistic map parameters number of nodes and different network parametersare investigated Keywords Chaos Synchronization Stability of synchronous state Master stability function Matrixmeasure
