94 Synthesis of new palladium pincer complex and 1 5 cyclooctadiene complexes characterization sensor catalytic application DNA and BSA binding Reza Zahedi Nasab r zahedi@ch iut ac ir Date of Submission 2014 1 12 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Kazem Karami Karmi@cc iut ac irAbstractIn the section one of this thesis the colorful pincer complex CNO synthiszed from reactionbetween Pd OAc 2 and pincer ligand 2 N N Dimethyl 4 aminophenyl azobenzenecarboxylic acid and characterized by NMR FT IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis The structure of pincer complex has been ascertained by single crystal X raycrystallography and shows a slightly distorted square planar geometry around the metalatom In addition the sensitizing property of this complex was investigated In second section the phosphorus ylides R3PdCHC O PhR R OMe and Ph react withthe 1 5 cyclooctadiene complex PdCl2 cod cod C8H12 1 5 cyclooctadiene to givethe monomeric cyclooctenyl complexes PdCl2 C8H12 CH PPh3 C O PhR R OMe Ph which synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopicstudies IR and multi nuclear NMR The study of the biological properties of the twocomplexes has been focused on the binding properties of the complexes with FS DNA andbovine serum albumin BSA investigated by UV and fluorescence spectroscopy In the last section four new air and moisture stable mononuclear CN type palladacycliccomplexes and a cyclooctenyl Pd II complex bearing a phosphorous ylide were used inthe Heck and Suzuki Miyaura coupling reactions under aerobic conditions Keywords palladium Pincer complex cross coupling reaction Suzuki reaction DNA and BSA binding
