111 Optimizing the Weave Adjustment to Minimize the Set Mark Phenomenon of Intermingled Polyester Spandex Fabrics Samanesadat Yazdanparast s yazdanparast@tx iut ac ir Date of Submission 2013 09 21 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Persian Supervisor S Abdolkarim Hosseini hoseinir@cc iut ac irAbstractFocusing on the creative ideas for resolving the industrial problems is the purpose of all the research anddevelopment units all over the world Set Marks is one of the interesting and challenging issues inwhich many groups have been interested in the third decade of the 20th century Many studies performedon set mark were based on mathematical and experimental modles and laboratory expriments If theconfiguration of warp weft textile is considered as a grid consists of two orthogonal groups of solidparallel bars the space between the bars has important effect on the textile features like as permeabilityagainst liquids light refraction and textile shading Set mark means the pickspace non uniformityemerging in the woven fabric after restarting the machine When the machine is restarted two factors leadto the set mark defect These two factors are movement of the cloth fell because of creep in the structureof yarn or fabric and instability of dynamic force The goal of this research is to determine the optimalcondition of weaving machines to minimize the set mark defect in the elastic textiles Several techniqueshave been presented to resolve the set mark problem However because of applying heavy load to yarn intwo phases of shed timing and beat up and also because of lack of physical segregation of yarn and fabricelements it is difficult to measure the creep and dynamic force of the weaving machine Getting reliableand correct feedbacks about the position of cloth fell can ease the process of detection and correction ofdefects In our research we try to present and design a totally industrial module based on mechatronicsknowledge which has unique features like as reliable and delayless functionality establishment in theminimum distance from the fore dead installation ability in whole of weaving looms only with newdesign in structure easy installation without any disturbance or altering on the process of weaving andportability for measurement of the mentioned quantity Considering the high interest in the elastic textilesin the recent decades in our research we evaluate the set mark problem based on Taguchi design ofexperiment method The start and stop angles shed timing time the vertical position of back rest rollerare considered as input factors In addition the objective function is defined as the minimum standarddeviation of pick space from their normal value The results of our research showed that the start anglefactor has the highest effect and the stop angle factor has the lowest effect on the optimization process Keywords cloth fell position weaving settings distance measuring sensors taguchi method
