100 100 Modeling and study on Rheology and Morphology of Polymeric Films Based on Polyethylene Polyamide Nano Clay Ternary Blend Mahvash Javanshir Giv m javanshir@ce iut ac ir January 22 2014 Department of Chemical Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisors M Masoomi mmasoomi@cc iut ac ir R Bagheri bagheri@cc iut ac ir Abstract The aim of present research is the investigation of relationship between rheology and microstructure of PE PA polymer blend reinforced with nanoclays besides the rheological modeling of nanocomposites The analyzed samples are based on PE LDPE LLDPE PA 70 30 reinforced with 3 4 and 5 phr of Cloisite 30B The nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending via twin screw extruder at temperature of 245 C The rheological behavior of specimens was analyzed by RMS in two modes of oscillatory and rotational As well the morphology of nanocomposites was studied by XRD SEM and TEM Finally the viscoelastic behavior of nanocomposites was analyzed by rheological models The results of XRD and TEM show good dispersion of nanoclays in PE PA polymer blend besides the intercalation and or exfoliation structure formed in this blend As well TEM micrographs illustrate that nanoclays have been located in PA phase The outcomes of rheological experiments indicated that with addition of 4 and 5 phr of Cloisite 30B to PE PA blend complex viscosity storage and loss modulus increased and damping factor and creep of samples decreased The more pseudo plastic behavior in these samples is indication of three dimensional physical networks formed in the nanocomposites The rheological models of Palierne Kerner and Coran were used to estimate the viscoelastic behavior of PE PA Nanoclay nanocomposites Modeling of nanocomposites showed that Palierne and Coran models deviate from experimental data completely On the other hand Kerner model almost predicts the rheological behavior of PE PA Nanoclay nanocomposites at high frequencies key word Polymer Blends Nano Composite Linear Viscoelastic Nonlinear Viscoelastic Rheology Modeling
