Review and Revise of RFID Terminals operation based on 8 bit Microcontrollers in Networks Mohammad Reza Soltani Kopaei Mr soltani@ec iut ac ir Date of Submission 2014 01 21 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Faramarz Hendessi hendessi@cc iut ac irAbstract Considering the human s requirements in preserving the properties and accelerating the daily activities the process of making the used tools smart and proposing new ideas in this area have drawn the attention ofnumerous studies From another perspective the complexity and high volume of controllable information inthe libraries are highly appreciated issues The RFID technology is capable of providing a suitable strategyfor the library management systems In this thesis the security and technical issues of this technology areboth examined Furthermore the main attempt is to provide a new infrastructure in order to resolve some ofthe existing issues and problems including the transfer of information in a quick and reliable manner Indoing so some improvement on the information transmission like cryptography is applied In order toevaluate the proposed infrastructure one library has been chosen as the case study and the proposedstrategy has been discussed within the infrastructure of this library The implementation based upon thisinfrastructure has been made using the suitable standards protocols and cryptography methods Thisimplementation demonstrates that the required infrastructure has increased the distance of transferring theinformation between the senders and receivers The usage of an 8 bit micro controller has reduced theconstruction cost which is considered to be one of the big challenges of these types of systems It also hasenhanced the efficieny of these systems in order to apply the stronger cryptography algorithms Thecapability of high adjustment and flexibility was strength of this infrastructure that was significantlydemonstrated due to integrating to various systems in that library Keywords RFID system Library managment system Cryptography algorithm Data communicationprotocol
