AbstractDrying is the important processes in industrial processes and optimization of drying conditioncan be save time costs also reduce energy consumption In this study drying rate of poly vinylacetate latex film under high electric field has been investigated Experiments were carried outinside the wind tunnel equipped with controllable temperature and air flow rate Direct electricfield with positive and negative polarity between two types of needle electrodes and an electrodeplate was applied with different distances Applied electric field by forming the plasma aroundthe needle electrode caused to ionic wind and by collision to surface polymer latex and creationof turbulence in saturated layer increased drying rate significantly The greatest effect wasobserved in absence of axial air flow Drying rate in the first stage of drying under 20 kV was 7times more than that in absence of electric field Results also showed that by increasing innumber of needle electrodes and reduction in distance of the needle and plate electrodes enhancethe drying rate But changes in polarity did not affect the evaporation rate To investigate theinteractions between the effect of parameters weight of polymer air velocity temperature andvoltage and modeling of the drying process design expert software was used Also quality ofdried polymer films in presence of high electric field investigated by scanning electronmicroscope SEM and infrared analysis spectrum IR Keywords 1 electrohydrodynamic 2 wind tunnel 3 poly vinyl acetate 4 drying
