The Role of Carbone Nanotube on Structural and Magnetic Properties of Strontium Hexaferrite Nanoparticles Gholam Reza Gordani g gordani@ma iut ac ir Date of Submission May 12 2014 Department of Materials Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran 1st supervisor Ali Saidi Professor Saidi@cc iut ac ir 2nd supervisor Ali Ghasemi Associate Professor Ali13912001@yahoo com Department Graduate Program Coordinator Dr Keyvan Raeissi Department of Materials Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Department of Material Engineering Malek Ashtar University of Technology Isfahan Shahin shahr Iran Abstract The novel magnetic nanocomposites of carbon nanotubes decorated with SrFe8MgCoTi2O19 nanoparticles have been prepared by a chemical co precipitation method The structural magnetic and electromagnetic properties of samples were studied as a function of volume percentage of CNTs by X ray diffraction Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy vibrating sample magnetometer and vector network analysis The XRD results showed that the nanocomposites were synthesized successfully Field emission scanning electron microscopy micrographs demonstrated that homogeneous and high level of dispersion of CNTs and Sr hexaferrite nanoparticles in nanocomposite samples were obtained The saturation magnetization of the nanocomposite samples was found to decrease by an increase in volume percentage of CNTs The vector network analysis results show that the highest value of reflection loss values were obtained in optimum volume percentage of CNTs in nanocomposite samples The results indicate that these novel types of nanocomposites with appropriate amount of CNTs hold great promise for microwave device applications Keywords Strontium hexaferrite CNTs Nanocomposite Reflection loss
