Investigation and assessment of the phase transformations in Fe Co Vultrathin foil in order to improve the mechanical and magnetic properties Saeed Hasani s hasani@ma iut ac ir Date of submission 2014 12 28 Department of Materials Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree Ph D Language FarsiSupervisors Morteza Shamanian shamanian@cc iut ac irAli Shafyei shafyei@cc iut ac irDepartment Graduate Coordinator Keyvan RaeissiAbstractIn this study occurrence of different phase transformations was investigated in a FeCo 7wt V alloy upon heating to 1200 C by the dilatometry method at different heating rates 5 10 and 15 C min 1 It was found that four phase transformations including B2 typeatomic ordering in phase first stage of polymorphic transformation r ordering to disordering and second stage of polymorphic transformation r occur inthis alloy up to 1200 C Two isoconversional methods as Starink and Friedman were usedto determine variation of the activation energy with temperature E T Moreover theempirical kinetic triplets E A and g were calculated by the invariant kineticparameters IKP method and fitting model Also the influence of annealing treatment onmacro and micro texture of cold rolled FeCo 7 15V ferromagnetic ultra thin foils werestudied The present study investigates the microstructure and grain boundaries evolutions duringrecrystallization of commercial FeCo 7wt V The resulting microstructures werecharacterized using electron back scatter diffraction after annealing at differenttemperatures At low temperatures 400 C where only recovery occurs duringannealing the fraction of low angle boundaries was increased But at high temperatures 850 C where recrystallization occurs during annealing the fraction of high angleboundaries and low coincidence site lattice CSL boundaries especially 3 wereincreased Also the effect of nano sub micron crystallization on the magnetic properties ofFe Co 7 15V alloy was investigated Hence cold rolled Fe Co 7 15V alloy with 90 reduction was annealed in different conditions The magnetic properties of the annealedsamples were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer It was found that the bestmagnetic properties of the cold rolled alloy were obtained after annealing at 550 C for 2hr Keywords FeCo V alloys Phase transitions Ordering transformation Magnetic properties Mechanical properties Texture Grain boundaries
