95 Characterizing of parameters in producing nanopigments masterbatches for using in polypropylene fibers Maryam Dastani m dastani@tx iut ac ir Date of Submission 2014 04 22 Department of Textile Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiProf A Zadhoush Zadhoush@cc iut ac irAbstractOne of the methods in producing colored fibers is masterbatch technique Colored masterbatches are specialproducts in that a pigment is distributed in a polymer carrier Masterbatches mostly are used in theproduction of polypropylene fibers The aim of the present study is production of nano masterbatch with thedifferent formulation and also production of fibers using these masterbatches and micro masterbatches At first in this paper Colored masterbatches for polypropylene fibers were produced with differentformulations and then colored polypropylene fibers were produced using above masterbatch PP granules two types of nano pigment produced using nano clay and methylene blue and Malakhyt green dyes alsophthalocyanine pigment and adaptive PPgMA were used For preparation of masterbatch Three samples with different percent of pigment in micro and nano masterbatches were produced in order tocompare the different masterbatch formulations Their rheological properties were measured and then wereanalyzed using the available relationships Also Colored polypropylene fibers were obtained usingmasterbatches and color properties of the fiber samples was measured using spectrophotometry and imageanalysis was performed on the microscope images of fiber samples Moreover the comparison between thetwo types of generated Nanopigment using rheology colored and microscopy tests were did The results show that increasing the percentage of pigment in micro and nano masterbatches samples makes the concentration of particles and also dispersions become more unfavorable With changing frommicro to nano particle in masterbatches concentrated particles and agglomerates increase the quality dropsand dispersion shows Sudoplastic behavioral By comparing the properties of prepared masterbatches fromtwo types of Nanopigment was found the nanopigment prepared using methylene blue has perform betterthan the nano pigment produced using Malakhyt green Key words Masterbatch Nanopigment Dispersion Colored fibers
