Abstract
:
method for the determination of is based on the addition reaction of sulphite with Brilliant Green at pH 7 and 25 C. The decrease in absorbance of Brilliant Green ( max=615 nm) over a fixed time is proportional to the concentration of sulphite over the range of 10-1200 ng ml**-1. The limit of detection was found to be 5 ng ml**-1. Five interfernces of various ions were studied. A cation-exchange resin was used for removal of interfering ion. The method was applied to the determination of sulphite in fruit juices.
