Abstract :
Many structural -mathematical soil -structure interaction models, and the transmission of earthquake loads, have so for been proposed, and an acceptable model for all civil engineers does not seam to be imminent. In this paper an ideal model for monolith is presented,in which the foundation of the structure is assumed to be massive to be massive and rigid, and the foundation materials are substituted by a set of distributed linear springs together with a sort of viscous damping. Then the influence of the lenght of the foundation in the variation of the motion of other stories is studied. For this ideal model a computable method for the general earthquake load together with an example is also presented.
