Abstract :
The effect of temperature on stimulated Raman scattering is studied for a 50,-by-volume solution of benzene in toluene. Experimental results confirm the theoretical prediction that higher gain and hence greater intensity are obtained at lower temperature from the first-order Stokes line of benzene. The extent of signal enhancement with decreasing temperature is so large that the technique holds promise for non-invasive thermometry in industrial process monitoring. Stimulated Raman Scattering thermometry can utilize the sample solvent as an internal temperature probe has better sensitivity at elevated temperatures.
