Abstract :
Studies have been made of the morphological and structural changes caused to wool fibres by contact with opening elements. The characteristic features of those changes which delvelop prior to catatrophic fibre failure have been classified as various forms of microdamage. The mechanisms by which contact creates each class of microdamage are discussed.
