Title of Article :

Influence of chemical Composition on the Strength of Austempered Duction Iron

Date :
(1994)
Abstract :
The influence of aaloying elements of copper, nickel, tin and aluminium of the microstructure and mechanical properties of Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) alloys have been investrigated. The austenitizing temperature of 890-990 C, the isothermal transformation temperatures of 280- 375 C and austmpering times of 15-150 minute have been studied. The alloying elements of copper, nickel, tin and aluminum have been varied within the range of 0-15,, 0-1,, 0-04,and 0-4.8,respectively.The results obtainted indcated that, the microstructure and mechanical properties of ADI are significantly influenced by the alloying elements, austenitizing temperature and isothermal transformation time and temperature. The alloying elemnts of copper, nickle, tin and aluminium had also a pronoinced effect on the matrix microstructure of as cast and annealed ductile irons.
