Abstract :
In the paper presented here the high temperature oxidation and aqueous corrosion of Ni-Cu high-alumium iron alloys (DIA), containing 20-30 Wt.,aluminum, have been investigated. The results obtained were compared with the oxidation resistance and corrosion behavior of 1 wt.,Ni - 1-5 wt,Cu-1 wt.,Al ductile iron , selected as the base alloy. The oxidation tests were carried out in atmosphere. Corrosion environments used were distilled water containing various percentaged of nitric acid, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. The corrosion behavior of specimens were studied using polarization techniques. The results obtained revealed that the oxidation resistance as well as the corrosion behavior of ductile iron alloys were significantly affected by the presence and amount of alloying element of aluminum. It was also observed that the nature and concentration of aqueous corrosion environment had a pronounced effect on the corrosion behavior of base and high aluminum ductile iron alloys
