Abstract
:
flow-injection system is proposed for the rapid determination of trace amounts of formaldehyde based on its inhibition of the Brilliant Green-sulphite reaction at pH 7. Formaldehyde in the range 40-3000 ng ml**-1 can be determined at a rate of 35+- 5 samples h**-1. The limit of detection was 20 ng ml**-1. The relative standard deviation for the determination of 1 Mg ml**-1 formaldehyde was 0.2,. The method was applied to the determination of formaldehyde in melamine-formaldehyde resin and chemical industrial waste water.
