117 The Reliability Optimization of Multi states Systems When the Probability of Components has a Fuzzy Behaviour Yazdan Movahedi y movahedi@in iut ac ir Date of Submission 2015 01 18 Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Ali Zeinal Hamadani hamadani@cc iut ac irAbstractIn the age of modern industries reliabilities and suitable performances of precidinglydesigned systems are very important factors because of systems complexity andconsiderable cost of systems failure or systems redesign Using the advantage ofimpelementing reliability optimization strategies such as increasing the reliability ofcomponents or redundancy allocation to subsystems the systems could performe morereliable The usual approach in reliability theory is to consider all of the components asbinary state elements While in the real wolrd many systems performe their task withdegraded performance levels This phenomenon is mainly caused by the degredation ofcomponents and parts in the system or and the failure of system elements whichdeteriorates the system performance This type of system is called multi state system MSS In this thesis the reliability optimization problem for fuzzy multi state systems FMSS is solved using redundancy allocation strategy The main difference of thisresearch in comparison to previoulsly done researches is the consideration of uncertaintyfor performance levels and their probabilities in a multi state system Moreover after therecognition of the optimized structure of a system the availability diagram together withits upperbound and lower bound is ploted in order to uncertainty interval Geneticalgorithm GA and differential evolution algorithm DE are used to solve the presentedoptimization models The results showed that the DE algorithm is more powerful methodin comparision with GA in order to solve redundancy allocation problem Keywords Availability Reliability Redundancy Allocation Availability RedundancyAllocation multi objective Optimization
