48 Evaluation of the New Infiltration Families in Furrow Irrigation Sajad Rezaei Norole sajadrezaie1988@gmail com January 7 2015 Department of Water Engineering College of Agriculture Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Alireza Soltani Tudeshki soltaniar@cc iut ac ir Mohammad Shayannejad shayannejad@cc iut ac ir AbstractInfiltration is one of the important processes in irrigation management Different equations have been developed forinfiltration One of them is related to NRCS SCS as intake family which has been revised for surface irrigationrecently However initial moisture as an effective factor on infiltration did not introduced in the new equations Thisresearch was focused on assessing the effect of initial water content on calculated infiltration by revised NRCSequations For this purpose a completely randomized design including 9 plots three treatments and threereplications was established For making of different initial water contents each plot was irrigated five times atinternals of 5 7 and 9 days Each plot was including three furrows with length of 30m and width of 60cm The firstand third furrows were as tributary ones to be created actual conditions of field The base infiltration rate wasestimated base on the texture an also using four approaches including 6 hours intake rate simple power equation terminative fitness and inflow outflow method Results show that the base infiltration is function of method of itsdetermination and initial moisture so that the least effect of initial moisture on base infiltration was related toinflow outflow method Although the effect of initial moisture on depth of infiltration was not significant for all ofthe methods in different time step the calculated depth of infiltration using the different methods had a significantdifference together Keywords Furrow irrigation infiltration equation by revised NRCS equations Initial soil moisture
