86 Synthesis and characterization of ion exchanged zirconium phosphate with iron III and investigation of protection of aromatic aldehydes acetylation of phenols and alchohols and oxidation of alchohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds Amir masti amiremasti@gmail com Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiProf A R Hajipour Email haji@cc iut ac irAbstract In this project first zirconium phosphate ZP nanoparticles were prepared and then H ions on the surface ofthe ZP nanoparticles were exchanged with Fe III cations by using impregnation method under reflux condition This inhomogeneous catalyst was called ion exchanged ZP with Fe III ZPFe and chracterized by using ICP XRD SEM TEM and BET analyses ICP analysis showed Fe Zr P and O elements according with appliedamounts of these elements to synthesis of the catalyst Identified phases in XRD ananlyses were consistent withoriginal sample completely With ananlytical techniques SEM and TEM catalyst size in nanoscale was confirmed BET analysis demostrated that pore size of Ce Zr Fe nanocatalyst was in the range of macroporous scale Then three different types of reactions were investigated by using this nanocatalyst including protection of aromaticaldehydes by converting them to relevant acylals through acetic anhydride acetylation of phenol and its derivativesby acetic anhydride and oxidation of alchohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds by hydrogen peroxide Obtained products from each type of aforementioned reactions after extraction and purification were characterizedby using FT IR and 1HNMR spectroscopies and their structures were confirmed Prepared catalyst was extractedsimply at the end of each reaction by using centrifuge apparatus and recycled by using simple process Reactionyields were high and yield losses were negligible after the catalyst was reused five times Keywords nanocatalyst zirconium phosphate ion exchanged zirconium phosphate oxidation of alchohols protection of aldehydes acylation of phenols 86
