123 Driving Force of Agricultural and Forestry Land Use Chang in Amol County Iran Mehraneh Fazli M fazli agriculture@ yahoo com March 9 2015 Department of Rural Development Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisors A M Amini aamini@cc iut ac ir A Yousefi ayousefi@cc iut ac irAbstractLand use and land cover change has been along with the emergence of human settlement and cultivationof plants During the last decades high rates of land use change and degradation have attracted theattention of policy makers and raised the need to understand the causes of these changes The aim of thisstudy is to evaluate the land use change and its driving forces in Amol County between 1986 and 2011 To calculate rates of landscape change we extracted the land cover map of each year applyingSupeervised and UnSupeervised and hybrid classification of satellite image and post classificationdetection method using 1985 1998 2006 and 2010 Landsat TM and ETM imagery The key geographic demographic economic and policy driving forces of land use change was determined by panel orderedlogistic regression model The results show that there was 8 25 land use change between 1985 and2010 the built up and pasture lands increased 2 and 1 98 and forest and cropland area decreased2 65 and 1 26 Furthermore slope distance from the road the number of immigrants unemploymentrate population urbanization rate implementation of public housing industrial park and new universitiesprojects and rural urban transformation has an effects on land use change The most importantgeographic demographic and policy driving forces on land use change are respectively decreasingdistance from the road growing the number of immigrants and public housing project Key words Remote Sensing Ordered Logistic Regression Model Panel Data Driving Forces
