Cluster based energy management of interconnected price responsive demands considering efficiency and equity Alireza Vahabi Alireza vahabi@ec iut ac ir Date of Submission 6 9 2015 Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan Iran 84156 83111Degree Master of Science Language Persian Supervisor s name Dr Mohammad Amin Latify Latify@cc iut ac irAbstract One of the main principles in an energy management system is achieving efficiencyand equity in resources allocation In the classic resources allocation approach maximumefficiency is achieved by maximizing summation of consumers surplus The classicapproach is ambiguous in equity point of view This thesis proposes an equitable resourceallocation approach while the maximum possible efficiency is achievable For this purpose we study energy management of a cluster of interconnected price responsive demands CIPRD a group of consumers in a geographical area that connected to each other and themain grid through a local electric network in a centralized energy management system Pooling individuals in a cluster would be desirable if they benefit more in comparisonwith the case in which they decide to consume energy independently Therefore energymanagement of a CIPRD is a cooperative game inherently Thus in this thesis the energymanagement of a CIPRD is modeled as a cooperative game Equilibria points of the gameis found using a multi objective optimization problem constrained by demand and localelectric network constraints Multi objective optimization solution leads to a number of Pareto efficient answers called Pareto front where each solution demonstrates an equilibrium of the cooperativegame Then by introducing three criteria namely Minimum Distance MD MinimumNormalized Distance MND and Minimum Difference Normalized Distance MDND finding an equilibria point in which allocation is equitable would be achievable Therefore we achieve to an allocation that is the most efficient and equitable simultaneously By using the proposed criteria a bi level optimization problem is modeledin which in the upper level the criteria is optimized and in the lower level all the possibleequilibria points are found The proposed model is implemented in a test system Thenumerical results appreciate the capability of the proposed model Keywords energy management equity in allocation cooperative game optimizationproblem constrained by other optimization problems multi objective optimization
