Effect of Dietary Emulsifier Supplementation on Performance Blood Biochemical Parameters Immune Responses and Ileal Nutrient Digestibility in Broiler Chicks Fed on Different Energy Levels Arefeh Faghih Habib Abadi Faghih72@gmail com November 15 2015 Department of Animal Sciences College of Agriculture Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language FarsiSupervisor Masoud Alikhani Alikhani@cc iut ac irAbstractThe present study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary emulsifier supplementation on performance bloodbiochemical parameters immune responses and ileal nutrient digestibility in broiler chicks fed on different metabolizable energylevels A total of 432 one day old Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly distributed between 9 experimental treatments with 4replicates Each cage included 12 birds Dietary treatments consisted of a 3 3 factorial arrangement with three dietary ME levels control 75 and 150 kcal kg below control and three levels of an emulsifier supplement 0 0 05 and 0 1 of diet Theexperiment lasted 42 d and chicks had free access to feed and water throughout the trial period Performance parametersincluding average daily gain ADG average daily feed intake ADFI and feed conversion ratio FCR were measuredperiodically as 1 14 starter 15 28 grower and 29 42 finisher d of age Serum samples were taken after immunizationagainst Newcastle disease virus NDV infectious bronchitis virus IBV and infectious bursal disease virus IBDV Gumboro to measure antibody responses against mentioned antigens In addition two birds from each replicate were injectedintraperitoneally with 0 5 cc 5 suspension of sheep red blood cells SRBC at d 27 and 34 and serum samples were collectedat 7th d after each antigen inoculation to evaluate primary and secondary antibody responses to SRBC At 42 d of age tworandomly selected birds per each replicate were slaughtered and relative weights of internal organs and carcass characteristicswere measured The birds were fed marker containing diets during the last 3d of trial and after euthanasia the ileal digesta werecollected for investigation of ileal nutrient digestibility Results showed that decrease in dietary ME level causes significantreduction in body weight gain during all periods Dietary supplementation of emulsifier caused marked P 0 05 growth in bodyweight gains during grower and finisher period There was a significant P 0 05 interaction between ME level and emulsifiersupplementation in the grower and total period for ADG The different levels of ME had no considerable impact on ADFI Theemulsifier supplement significantly P 0 05 increased ADFI in finisher and total period FCR significantly increased in totalproduction period as a result of reduced dietary metabolizable energy Furthermore the emulsifier addetives could improve FCRin starter P 0 05 grower P 0 001 and total P 0 05 periods In addition this improvement was more in chickens thatreceived 0 1 emulsifier The relative weight of internal organs such as the liver heart and pancreas was not affected bydifferent levels of metabolizable energy But the relative weight of abdominal fat was significantly P 0 05 impressed So that the relative weight of abdominal fat with minimal energy levels were dramatically decreased A significant interaction effect P 0 05 between the emulsifier and the level of ME on the relative weight of abdominal fat were observed The different levelsof energy as well as complementary emulsifier had no effect on the weight of the lymph organs Low energy diets decreasedantibody titers against SRBC at first timing Antibody titers against Gumboro at treatment 75 kcal below control significantlyhigher than other groups But LPC did not affect any antibody titers A noteworthy interaction between ME level and emulsifieradditives P 0 05 in primary and secondary antibody response against SRBC was observed As expected reduction of dietaryenergy level reduced significantly P 0 05 serum triglycer
