132 Robust Stability Analysis and Stabilization of Switched Linear Systems with Parametric Uncertainties Mohammad Ali Bagherzadeh Kouhbanani ma bagherzadeh@ec iut ac ir February 2016 Department of Electrical and Computer EngineeringIsfahan University of Technology 84156 83111 Isfahan IranSupervisor Dr Jafar Ghaisari ghaisari@cc iut ac ir Co Supervisor Dr Javad Askari j askari@ec iut ac ir Advisor Dr Mohsen Mojiri ECE Graduate Program Coordinator Dr Mohammadali Khosravifard Associate Professor Isfahan University of Technology AbstractRobust stability is the most important requirement dealing with uncertain switched linear systems Thisdissertation studies the robust stability and stabilization of switched linear systems with parametric uncertaintieswhich typically arise when switched linear models are derived based on physical laws Since the switchingsignal plays a key role in stability analysis proposed results are categorized according to the switching signals into arbitrary and constrained switching For switched linear systems with uncertain parameters belong toknown intervals sufficient conditions are proposed to ensure robust stability under arbitrary switching and slowswitching signals with the known minimum dwell time In addition stability intervals of uncertain parametersare estimated in the way that the uncertain switched linear systems are robustly stable Since the proposedstability intervals depend on the choice of Lyapunov functions suitable optimization methods are included toenlarge the obtained intervals For stabilization of parametric uncertain switched linear systems with unstablesubsystems stabilizing state feedback gains are designed for arbitrary and dwell time switching signals Then design methods for quadratic and piecewise quadratic stabilizing state dependent switching signals areproposed Numerical examples and a case study are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the results Key WordsSwitched linear system parametric uncertainty robust stability robust stabilization IntroductionSwitched linear systems have received attention due to the wide range of their applications inmodeling stabilization and control Stability analysis and stabilization of switched linearsystems are two important problems in the area of switched systems Switched linear systemsare categorized according to switching signals into arbitrary switched systems andconstrained switched systems Arbitrary switching signals that include all possible forms ofswitching are considered when the switching mechanism is unknown or too complicated tobe useful in the stability analysis The constrained switching signals may also be time dependent or state dependent The motivation for research on time dependent switchedsystems comes from the fact that a switched system with all stable subsystems will be stableif the switching signal is sufficiently slow to let the transient effects be dissipated On thecontrary large state transients or even instability may be occurred if the switching signal isarbitrarily fast State dependent switching signals are also designed by partitioning the statespace into the subsets corresponding to the subsystems in the way that control objectives areattained
