66 Assessing Performance of Rural Health Centers in Nahavand County Iran Razieh Shahbazi r shahbazi@ag iut ac ir February 19 2017 Department of Rural Development Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisors A M Amini aamini@cc iut ac ir A Yousefi ayousefi@cc iut ac ir Abstract Rural health plays a vital role in the process of development Lack of access to safe drinking water inadequate sanitation facilities unsanitary waste disposal services climatic conditions and no control of vermin in the villages are the main obstacles of public health in the rural area Given the responsibility of the rural health units RHUs in the disease prevention and health promotion the aim of this study is to assess the performance of RHUs in Nahavand County in Hamaedan Province Data were collected on a sample of women with access to RHUs in their living area using stratified cluster sampling method through face to face interviews based on a comprehensive structured questionnaire The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were initially evaluated in a pre test study respectively using expert s judgment and Cronbach s alpha coefficient The results showed the performance of RHUs was relatively acceptable Further analysis showed health performance improved by increasing village population size and provision of sanitary facilities and there was no evidence that the villages away from the city and personnel accountability has an influence on performance keywords Rural health center Performance assessment Logistic regression Nahavand County
