The Generalized Lorenz Like Systems Mahshid Parsa m parsa@math iut ac ir 2016 Department of Mathematical Sciences Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Supervisor Dr Hamidreza Zohouri Zangeneh hamidz@cc iut ac ir 2010 MSC 05C15 53C42 Keywords Multi scroll chaotic attractor chaoti cation three dimensional quadratic autonomoussystem Lorenz like systems Normal form Hopf bifurcation Liapunov exponent AbstractIt came as a big surprise to most scientists when Lorenz discovered chaos in a simple system of threedimensional quadratic autonomous ordinary di erential equations in 1963 For nearly 40 years manysimple chaotic ows have been found and further studied within the framework of three dimensionalquadratic autonomous systems These simple chaotic systems have stimulated a great deal of inter est in the studies of chaotic dynamics from a uni ed point of view as well as related chaos controland synchronization problems In this thesis a new chaotic system of three dimensional quadraticautonomous ordinary di erential equations is presented and further studied which can display i two 1 scroll chaotic attractors simultaneously with only three equilibria and ii two 2 scroll chaoticattractors simultaneously with ve equilibria Dynamical behaviors of this new chaotic system in cluding some basic dynamical properties bifurcations periodic windows routes to chaos compoundstructures of the new attractors and their connections etc have been investigated both theoreticallyand numerically Of particular interest is the fact that this chaotic system can generate a complex4 scroll chaotic attractor or con ne two attractors to a 2 scroll chaotic attractor under the control of asimple constant input Moreover the concept of generalized Lorenz system has been further extended so is the notion of generalized Lorenz like systems Some discussion of a simple classi cation and nor mal form has been carried out for these three dimensional quadratic autonomous chaotic systems L uet al Since the Lorenz like system was chaotic which was based on the original Lorenz system it is interest ing to explore the underlying mechanism leading to chaos As we know bifurcation could cause chaos
