أ Synthesis and characterization of Waterborne Urethane Urea dispersions simultaneouslyachieving biodegradation and solvent resistance of the final Semi IPN Networks Maryam Rashedi rashedimaryam@yahoo com Department of chemical engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree M Sc Language PersianAbstractTheory Potential for altered expanded changes during synthesis of WaterbornePolyurethane Dispersions leads to creation of network structures in which not onlymechanical properties as well as solvent resistance have been maintained but alsointroduction of virgin Starch provides biodegradation Experimental At first a stable aqueous dispersion of Urethane was synthesized undercontrolled conditions by Prepolymer method Then the urethane chain became perfectlysusceptible to have double bond pendant Allyl groups using Trimethylolpropane monoallylether for crosslinking with Butyl acrylate monomer Prior to obtain cured films containingvarying starch contents calculated amount of unsaturated urethane dispersion and Butylacrylate monomer with a ratio of ten to one different values of starch solutions andPotassium persulfate as a chemical initiator as well were mixed homogenously Moldedfilms were cured inside the oven vacuum in order to compare with Urethane film in termsof mechanical properties solvent resistance and biodegradation through extensivecharacterizations Achievements Unlike the complete dissolving of Urethane film the cured films justswollen in Dimethylformamide solvent confirms crosslinking Despite the noticeabledecrease in elongation at break in cured films Young Modulus rocketed sharply withincreasing Starch content for a wide variety of reasons including crosslinking as well asHydrogen bonding Biodegradation analysis using amylase enzyme showed a dramaticgrowth with increasing Starch content in cured films in spite of crosslinking while thementioned feature had negligible changes in pure Urethane film Although the contactangles of cured films containing Starch decreases with increasing Starch content the causemay be related to increasing roughness of the surfaces Keywords Polyurethane Dispersion Biodegradation Crosslinking Starch Solvent Resistance
