256 Synthesis and characterization of unsymmetric Schiff base and carboxamide ligands and complexes application as corrosion inhibitiors antibacterial agents and fluorescent probes for zinc ion detection in cellular imaging Synthesis and characterization of G Pd hybrid NPs and catalytic application Roghayeh Sadeghi Erami Roghayeh Sadeghi@ch iut ac ir Date of Submission September 2017 Department of Chemistry Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree PhD Language FarsiSupervisor Prof M Amirnasr amirnasr@cc iut ac irAdvisor Dr K Raeesi and Dr M M MomeniDepartment Graduate Program Coordinator Dr A R Najafi ChermahiniAbstractUnsymmetrical Schiff base ligands carboxamides and benzothiazoles are of great interest to the inorganicchemists The diverse properties of these ligands have inspired us to synthesize the following ligands and theircomplexes Schiff base H2nitrosalabz Hbzacabza H2bzacabzasal and H2bzacabzanapht Carboxamide Hqcq and Hqpzc Benzothiazole derivative hpbtz Metal complexes CoIIL2 bzln 2 1 NiIIL2 DMF 2 2 ZnIIL2 3 VVO2 qcq 4 and VVO2 qpzc C2H5OH 5 Their corrosion inhibition properties and biological activities have also been studied The synthesized ligandsare effective corrosion inhibitors on the mild steel and the structural and electronic parameters have remarkableinfluences on the interaction between those ligands and mild steel surface and can affect their inhibitoryperformances Also the incorporation of metal into the Schiff base and carboxamides improves the biologicalproperties of the ligands Antibacterial tests showed that complexes 1 4 and 5 possess biological activityand have significant effect on bacterial species In view of the application of the synthesized ligands as metal ionsensor the carboxamide ligand Hqcq displays a turn on type fluorescence response toward Zn 2 ion Moreover the incorporation of small flouoregenic benzothiazolic ligand hpbtz into the nanostructures materialresulted in the hybrid magnetic fluorescent and silica fluorescent nanoprobes which are capable of detectingZn2 ion as cellular imaging agents In continuation synthesis and characterization of Graphene Pdheterogeneous hybrid nanocatalyst G COOH Pd 10 is described This material has shown suitable catalyticbehavior in the Suzuki Miyaura coupling reactions with desirable TOF values and a good degree ofrecyclability Keywords Schiff base Carboxamide and Benzothiazole ligands Corrosion inhibitors Fluorescentprobe Cellular imaging Heterogeneous hybrid nanocatalyst
