Investigating the relationship between total quality management and safety management and their effects on the performance of organizations Case study Isfahan Textile Companies Ahmad Kazemian a kazemian@in iut ac ir Date of Submission Department of Industrial Engineering Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 Iran Degree M Sc Language PersianSupervisor Dr Gholamali Raissi raissi@cc iut ac irAbstractNowadays due to the expansion and industrialization of human societies and also becauseof the competitive advantage maintaining and improving organizational performance hasbecome a major challenge for organizations Hence one of the ways to survive and improveits performance is to use and implement management systems that include qualitymanagement and safety management Comprehensive quality management is a strongmanagement system that can optimize the performance of organizations and provide aplatform for solving issues in terms of effectiveness improvement and customer satisfaction Also the Safety Management System takes steps to ensure sustainable development reducecosts and increase productivity by preventing health and safety injuries and taking intoaccount the health and safety of employees and other individuals affected by currentorganization activities This thesis examines the relationship between comprehensive qualitymanagement and safety management and their interactions on the performance oforganizations in some textile companies located in Isfahan province This research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of collecting descriptive and surveydata and using a questionnaire The questionnaire used in this study consists of two sections which include demographic information including education level and service record andthe main body that includes 40 questions with a 5 point Likert scale to measure 9 sub criteriarelated to three indicators of comprehensive quality management safety management andperformance Finally by analyzing the data using the structural model the effect ofrelationships on each other was investigated The results showed that indicators have apositive and significant effect on each other and their promotion will improve the qualityand thus improve performance Keywords Total Quality Management Safety Management Performance Quality
