Preparation and characterization of TiO2 Nb2O5 nanocatalyst and itsapplication in the preparation of 5 hydroxymethylfurfural from fructose and glucose Preparation and characterization of heterogeneous Fe g C3N4 CF optical catalyst and application for removal of MB RhB and MO Nafiseh Salimiyan Rizi Nf salimiyan@gmail com June 2019 Department of Chemistry Iran Isfahan 84156 83111 Isfahan University of TechnologyDegree M Sc Language Farsi Supervisor Prof Mehran Ghiaci mghiaci@cc iut ac irAbstractIn this thesis two new heterogeneous catalysts TiO2 Nb2O5 and Fe g C3N4 CF wereprepared and their application were investigated In the first project heterogeneous TiO2 Nb2O5 nanocatalysts were prepared and analyzed by FT IR pyridine adsorption XRD TGA FE SEM EDAX TEM and BET methods and elemental mapping Then theperformance of these nanocatalysts was investigated for preparation of one of the mostattractive and functional organic materials called 5 hydroxymethylfurfural from purefructose and glucose With fructose as the raw material 78 yield and 82 selectivity wasobtained When glucose used as the starting material 56 efficiency and 84 selectivitywas observed This reaction was carried out in aqueous solvent and 2 butanol was appliedas the extraction phase In the second project heterogeneous Fe g C3N4 CF catalysts were prepared usinginexpensive materials such as carbon fiber and melamine and investigated by FT IR FE SEM XRD XPS UV visible DRS EDAX elemental mapping and BET Subsequently the performance of this catalyst examined in the presence of visible light and hydrogenperoxide for degradation of methylene blue rhodamine B and methyl orange as harmfulpollutants in the industrial effluents Keywords titanium oxide niobium oxide 5 hydroxymethylfurfural glucose fructose carbon fibers
