abstract Stone is a natural material that has many uses One of the uses of stone is its use as a build ing stone which today is mainly used as a facade and decorative stone The stone that is selectedas a building stone must have a series of special physical and mechanical properties The intrinsicproperties of the stone are very influential on its extraction and processing Building stones includeigneous sedimentary and metamorphic stones The difference in properties of these stones makesthem have different applications and the way they are extracted and processed is different from eachother Extraction in building stone mines is mainly open and various machines such as diamond wirecutting machines mortar circular saw etc are used In mining and quarrying economic factors andcosts are very important By examining and measuring operational factors and their relationship withstone properties it is possible to predict costs and other operational factors One of the operationalfactors affecting mining costs is special cutting energy This research has been done by studying anumber of physical and mineralogical properties of granite rocks and their relationship with specificshear energy to estimate specific shear energy Eleven samples of granite were cut by a diamond cut ting wire machine and by measuring the geometric properties such as area circumference diameterequivalent to the minerals that make up each stone sample and quartz containing modeling to investi gate the relationship between specific shear energy with these properties The data in this study wereanalyzed using data mining methods in WEKA software The relationship between the mineralogicalproperties of the studied samples and their specific shear energy was investigated by linear multipleregression methods multilayer perceptron neural networks support vector machine and M5P deci sion tree The results obtained from these models indicate that the decision tree and neural networkmodels with the highest coefficients of determination were selected as sample models to estimate thespecific shear energy The results obtained from these methods have been statistically analyzed andconfirmed keywords building stone Mineralogical and geometric properties specific cutting energy datamining
