230 Factors affecting Astragalus adscendens and Quercus brantii decline in Chahr mahal Bakhtiari province Leila Yaghmaei Date of Submission 15 2 2021 Department of Natural Resources Isfahan University of Technology Isfahan 84156 83111 IranDegree Ph D Language PersianDr Reza Jafari reza jafari@cc iut ac irDr Saeid Soltani ssoltani@cc iut ac irAbstractDecline as a phenomenon is one of the most important causes of degrading rangeland and forest species inZagros In this study various factors affecting decline of Astragalus adscendens and Quercus brantii speciesand the relationship between these factors were studied using field methods remote sensing and modeling byBayesian Belief Networks BBNs in Chaharmahal Bakhtiari Province For this purpose according to the resultsof zoning project of rangeland and forest species decline three regions with decline of Quercus brantii species including Barez Saveh and Helen one region with decline of Astragalus adscendens species and two controlforest and rangeland regions were selected and the effect of each factor on these regions and the whole provincewas investigated based on field data climatic data bioclimatic regions topographic data and Landsat andMODIS satellite images during 2000 2016 Investigation of the effect of rainfall and drought on vegetationchanges in the province using SPI and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index NDVI in short and long termperiods showed that vegetation and plant species play an important role in influencing vegetation especiallyrangeland from drought The temporal spatial changes of net primary production NPP of rangelands inresponse to changes in rainfall during the study years using Carnegie Ames Stanford Application CASA andStandardized Palmer Drought Index SPDI in different rangeland conditions showed that in degraded and poorrangelands these two indicators have a higher decreasing trend than is good and medium rangelands Thehighest correlation was observed between field data and modeled production in cold and humid climatic regionsin Astragalus Spp Ferula Spp type good rangeland condition 0 865 and the lowest correlation wasobserved in Annual grasses Annual forbs type 0 198 very poor rangeland condition in cold semi aridclimatic regions Monitoring of actual NPP production and Miami model potential in bioclimatic regionsshowed that rangeland condition plays an important role in the difference between actual production andpotential as well as the rainfall use efficiency RUE index Investigation of changes in land use and land coverin the study period also showed that an area equivalent to 33 937 hectares of forests and rangelands in theprovince has suffered from decline phenomenon Investigation of the interactions of simulated dust 0 20 40and 60 g m using dust simulator and irrigation regimes April July and October 2016 on morpho physiological properties of one and three year Quercus brantii seedlings showed that dust stress significantlyreduced relative water content leaf area membrane stability index and dry and fresh weight of shoots underdifferent irrigation regimes and water stress exacerbated dust stress The study results of the relationship
