The main purpose of the research is the analysis and sustainability evaluation of the Isfahan metropolitan ecosystem on a neighborhood scale. Because Isfahan, as the capital of the province, is one of the country's most historically significant, prominent, and immigrant cities. Due to the city's expanding population, changes in urban development, inadequate distribution of urban services, pollution, and other factors, Isfahan metropolitan now faces numerous challenges. therefore, evaluating the city of Isfahan's sustainability on a neighborhood scale is important, as Isfahan is Iran's third metropolis and one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. Assessing the urban ecosystem's sustainability is also essential in urban decision-making and planning at the national, regional, and local scales. It's also a powerful tool for linking past and present activities to future development goals, and it's important for achieving sustainable development. In this study, to achieve the desired goal, the dimensions and elements of urban sustainability were grouped into three dimensions (urban ecosystem services, urban environmental hazards, and physical-spatial dimension) and 23 indicators. Then, the spatial distribution map of each of the used indicators was prepared, and to calculate the levels of sustainability of the study area, the multi-criteria decision-making methods (TOPSIS, VIKOR, WASPAS and COPRAS models) were used. The findings of this study show that despite the measures taken for the optimal development of Isfahan in recent years, less than 3% of the area of the city's neighborhoods based on three components of urban ecosystem services, urban environmental hazards, and the physical-spatial dimension of the city is at an almost sustainable level (i.e. 0.61-8). In general, the second group of the Prescott-Allen model (i.e., the level of poor sustainability (0.21 - 0.4)) contains the majority of Isfahan neighborhoods. As a result, the second group accounts for 59.14% of the total surface area of Isfahan neighborhoods. Furthermore, 36.42 per cent of the neighborhoods in the research area are classified as moderately sustainable on the Prescott-Allen scale. It should be noted that none of the 15 districts and neighborhoods of Isfahan is in a good category in terms of compositional indicators, i.e. sustainable (0.8-1). The findings of this study, on the other hand, demonstrate that one of Isfahan's strengths in terms of urban sustainability is that only 1.73 percent of the city's neighborhoods are located on an unsustainable level. In addition, according to the findings of this study, 46.23 percent of the area of Isfahan neighborhoods is positioned in the medium to a sustainable level based on physical-spatial dimensions (0.41-1). As a result, in comparison to the other dimensions, the physical-spatial dimension of Isfahan has the most sustainability. The urban environmental hazards dimension has the lowest sustainability of Isfahan neighborhoods; this component is in critical condition since roughly 71.98 per cent of the area of Isfahan's neighborhoods is unsustainable (bad) or almost unsustainable (poor) (i.e. 0-0.4). Furthermore, the findings of this study show that the city of Isfahan has good or perfect sustainability only in the physical-spatial dimension, with this component accounting for less than 1% of the total area of neighborhoods. Neighborhoods were also ranked in terms of sustainability in the last stage of the sustainability evaluation at the neighborhood scale. According to the conclusions of this study, the study area's minimum sustainability rank and maximum amount are 21.95 and 59.79, respectively.
