AbstractControl charts are primary tools for statistical process control These charts can bedesigned with simple methods such as shewhart control chart or other statistical criteria oreconomical criteria In this thesis we discuss multivariate exponentially weighted movingaverage MEWMA control chart by statistical and economical criteria and advantagesand disadvantages for each method has been described The Lorenzen Vance economical model is used for MEWMA control chart and usingHooke and Jeeves method minimizes the cost In addition we show that economicstatistical design MEWMA control chart can be improved statistical properties withoutincreasing the cost by putting statistical constrains on economical model MEWMA controlchart The cost of optimal economic statistical design compared with optimal economic design isnot indicated the increase of considerable cost Additional statistical constrains in economic statistical design MEWMA control chartindicate that statistical properties in this design has improved dramatically in comparingeconomic design MEWMA control chart
