Abstract Rose aphid Macrosiphum rosae is one of the most important pests on roses inthe world and causeseconomical damagesannually To control this pest it is requiredto know the effective factors on changes of its population Bioecology of rose aphid seasonal population dynamics identification of natural enemies seasonal parasitism ofdominant parasitoid species Aphidius rosae and rose aphid fauna were studied inIsfahan In a supplementary experiment the effect of temperature 15 18 22 and 25 C on some biological parameters of M rosae was studied To study seasonal populationdynamics 10 shoots were sampled randomly every week from April 2003 to November2004 in two locations of Isfahan Rose aphid with a high population density in spring April and May and in autumn November was observed on roses Rose aphidoverwinters in parthenogenetic females and all nymphal stages alate and apteraeviviparous females were observed in the winter This aphid migrates to secondary hostdue to poor food quality of rose plants in summer Dipsacus Jullonum Dipsacaceae was a secondary host in summer for rose aphid Since sexual form and egg of rose aphidwere not observed so it probably is anholocyclic species with host alternation inIsfahan The results of laboratory experiments showed that this aphid has the shortestnymphal stages the highest developmental rate and fecundity and the shortestgeneration time at 22 C rather than that in other treated temperature However thepopulation of rose aphid increased rapidly at 22 C The lowest developmentaltemperature threshold for this aphid is 9 05 C According to this threshold the firstnymphal instar needs 77 5 degree daysto become adult Four species of Coccinellidae three species of Syrphidae two specie of Chamaemyiidae a few numbers ofAnthocoridae and Miridae and one species of Cantharidae were collected as naturalenemies of rose aphid One species of ectoparasite mite of Erythraeidae was alsocollected Among the four collected species of parasitoid wasps from Braconidae Aphidius rosae is reported firstly from Iran as a dominant parasitoid species in Isfahan Seasonal parasitism of A rosae showed the activity of this parasitoid on rose aphid intwo period of year spring and autumn The percentage parasitism ranged from 2 75 to 11 69 and from 0 84 to 2 72 in spring and autumn respectively Ten species ofaphids belonging to Aphididae were also identified Among these one species from Iranand four species from Isfahan were recorded for the first time r o 1 1 11 0 0 01 1 tIi u 1 1 v I N
