Abstract This study was conductedto investigatethe genetic diversity of triticale genotypesusing agronomic and morphologicaltraits as well as semi randommarkers Fourty onetriticale genotypeswere evaluatedusing a randomizedcompeleteblock designreplicatedtwo times at Research Farm of College of Agriculture IsfahanUniversity of Technology located at Lavark Najaf Abad in 2003 Thesegenotypes were also usedto studygeneticdiversity using semi random markers Agronomic characteristics comprisedplant height length internode length flag leaf numberof spike per m2 spike length biological yield grain yield number of grain per spike numberof spikelet per spike 1000 grain weight kernelweight harvestindex percentof wet glutenand percentof dry gluten The resultsofanalysis of variance showed significant differencesamong genotypesfor all the traitsstudied Percentof wet glutenhad the highestcoefficient of variation CV 23 7 percentof dry gluten CV 21 6 grain yield CV 18 9 and spikes per m2 CV 17 2 wereranked afterwards Lowest coefficient of variation was observedfor kernel weight andplant height Study of correlation analysis indicated that grain yield correlated withbiological yield number of grains per spike number of spikelet per spike and harvestindex Based on stepwiseregression analysis biological yield and harvestindex were themost efficient traits in explaningthe grain yield variation Principal componentsanalysiswas performed for all genotypesand 5 components demonstrated percentof the total 80grain yield variation Factor analysisrevealed5 factors namely plant height grain yieldand their componets biological yield harvest index and kernel weight respectively Clusteranalysisof genotypes basedon agronomictraits defined desirableclustershavingbeneficialcharacteristics which areuseful to the breedingobjectives The resultsof geneticdiversity using semi random primers revealed that among 24 tested primers 9polymorphic primers were observedranging from 38 5 to 85 7 polymorphism amongstudied genotypes Calculated similarity matrics showed the highest similarity betweenPresto genotypeand Dad60 genotypeand the lowest coefficient of similarity between 1Farasand Lasko genotypes Faras and Dad601 genotypes Ems and Magnat genotypes Fourty one triticale genotypesdivided into 7 groups based on cluster analysis Thesegroupsincluded 17 17 17 7 10 10 and22 percentages genotypes of IJJI J fir J fj j
