Abstract In this work simulation of cyclic adsorptionprocessused for mercaptanremoval fromnatural gas are presented This processis used in mercaptanremoval unit of South ParsGas Field Phase1 Six adsorptionfixed bed are in used in this plant containing molecularsieve type 13X Three beds are in processfor adsorptionpurposesand the other three bedsare being used for regenerationsimultaneously Regeneration cycle involves two steps forheating and one step for cooling In modeling of this process plug flow with axial dispersionmodel use for gas flowpattern in bed Assume that there are three components mercaptan water and inertcomponent in this system Adsorption rate is approximatedby linear driving force LDF expression Langmuire isotherm is used to describe adsorption equilibrium on zeoliteadsorbent The energy balance equation drives with thermal axial dispersion and heattransferto ambientassumptions The setof partial differential equationsof dynamic modelis solved using the implicit finite difference algorithm The cyclic steady state CSS isobtained for this case by cyclic simulation The concentrationprofiles and temperatureprofile are presentedin bed length at various times For verification of simulation the results are compared with mercaptan removal unitoperationaldata The influences of significant operatingparameterson systembehaviorarealso discussed and optimal va s fo the eparameters derived are I1 v 1
