Abstract The situation of dairy cattle as a domesticated animal seriously manipulated by human which affects its circumstances To increase the degree of tolerance of cattle for theseconditions breeders have picked out certain physical traits which by improving these traits they may increase herd life of cattle Selection pressure on type traits may cause yield traits ofcattle to decrease The aim of the present study was to estimated heritability genetic andphenotypic correlations among type and production traits In the present study productionrecords on 47615 lactations of 17946 cows in 8 herds from 1991 to 2004 were obtained by theAnimal Breeding Center of Isfahan Agricultural Jahad Organization and Vahdat Agriculturistsand dairymen cooperative A total of 4594 cows had received a linear score among 1 to 9 foreach trait by using an individual score card In order to estimate genetic parameters bothunivariate and multivariate animal model analysis of Derivative Free Restricted MaximumLikeLihood DF REML were used By the univariate analysis heritabilities of milk yield fatyield fat and protein percentage in first lactation were 0 14 0 22 0 29 and 0 27 respectively In univariate analysis heritabilities for type traits ranged 0 50 to 0 10 for stature and dairycharacters respectively In multivariate analysis heritabilities in first lactation for milk yield fat yield fat and protein percentage were 0 14 0 21 0 29 and 0 27 respectively Inmultivariate analysis heritabilities for type traits ranged 0 50 to 0 10 for stature and dairycharacters respectively Genetic correlations among milk and fat yield with final score were0 07 and 0 02 respectively these shows a few number of genes may control these traitssimultaneously Therefore selection for one of these traits may not make a significantdifference on the other traits Genetic correlation among fat percentage of milk with final scorewas negative It is included that selection based on final score may decrease fat percentage ofmilk
