AbstractBuried Pipelines used to transport Gas Oil Water and other substances over greatdistance A pipeline transmission system is a system which transfer a large geographicalarea and thus may encounter a wide variety of seismic hazards and soil condition Themajor seismic hazards which can significantly affect a pipeline system are GroundShaking Differential Fault Movement Liquefactions and Landslide Buriedpipeline affected by liquefaction and landslides in vast area these phenomena causedseveral damages on pipeline and design resistant pipe due to these effect is very difficultand is not economic In this research we study the response of continuous pipeline tostrike slip fault and seismic load For analysis the pipeline subject to fault two models aredevelop the beam model and the shell model For analysis the pipeline subject toearthquake the beam model used Effect of soil pipe interaction pipe embedment and pipediameter are evaluated Assumption for this study includes flexible pipe no liquefied soil and good bounding between pipes and surrounding soil Isfahan University of Technology Department of Mechanical Engineering Study the effect of ground fault and earthquake on buried pipeline by Finite Element Method A thesis Submitted in partial fulfillment of requirements For the degree of Master of Science By Mehdi foroughi Abary
