Abstract In this thesis a numerical method for solving the class of optimal control problems ofnonlinear time delayed systems is presented The problem is first formulated as adelay free optimal control problem The state and control variables are approximatedby their interpolant polynomial using Chebyshev nodes Therefore the dynamics ofthe optimal control problem are redused to a system of algebraic equations We willapply cell averaging integration rule to compute the performance index Theseproperties are then utilized to reduse the problem to the solution of algebraicequations Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity accuracyand applicability of the proposed method
