AbstractThis project consists of two independent parts The first part describes the oxidation of alcohols and deprotection of R OTMS and R OTHP in the presence of 1 butyl 3 methyl imidazolium bromide as catalyst and solventby K2S2O8 as oxidant The advantages of using K2S2O8 by this method are usinginexpensive reagent without using hazardous organic solvent This method ischemoselective and can of oxidation of benzylic alcohol without over oxidation In the second part we study the iodination of variety of aliphatic and benzylic alcoholsby using of 1 butyl 3 methyl imidazolium bromide as catalyst and solvent by usingPPh3 I2 The method is efficient straightforward and green chemistry with high yield and shortreaction period All of the productions were identified by Mass spectroscopy IR meltingor boiling point
