AbstractA transect with nearly 45 Kilometers long in NE SW direction was selected to study in order toanalyze the relation between vegetation and some ecological characteristics in Ardestan area andto discover effective factors in plants growth The starting point of transect was south westernparts of Ardestan city and the final point was low lands of Daghe Sorkh six sites were selectedas studying sites along the transect Most important ecological characteristics of selected siteswere determined in four sections Climate 12 characteristics soil 26 characteristics geology and physiology 8 characteristics and vegetation canopy cover To analyze thesimilarity of the 6 sites and their classification quantitative statistics of 46 environmentalcharacteristics were analyzed clusterly based on partial Euclidean distance indicator by minimumvariation method Also in order to investigate the characteristics of growth place anddetermining the relation between vegetation and ecological conditions of the area statistics ofcombinational percentage of vegetation of 17 plant species in relation with 46 environmentalfactors were classified and processed by Canonical Correspondence Analysis CCA Based onthe results of clustered separation of studied sites in the 68 similarity level three differentgrowth places were observed The first growth place includes the 1st 2nd and 3rd sites the secondgrowth place includes the 4th and 5th sites and the third growth place includes the 6th siteseparately Only 24 of these 46 factors were effective in this classification by 95 certaintylevel These 24 effective factors are divided into 8 climate characteristics and 16 soilcharacteristics As these numbers show the proportion of soil characteristics is more and twicegreater than the climate characteristics Also 11 soil characteristics with 99 certainty levelshow the importance of these environmental factors Based on the ordination results plantspecies which are located in 1st and 2nd sites and the most important one Artemisia aucheri with75 cover percentages mostly observed in sites where the evaporation is low and average annualtemperature is not high In high slope sites these events were observed average soil texture highamount of phosphorus and carbonate low salinity of soil and low amount of sodium andchlorine Plant species which are located in the 3 and 4 sites and the most important onesArtemisia sieberi Acanthophylum microcephalum can bear evaporation but can not toleratecold spell These two species have high correlation with bicarbonates and are ratharly influencedwith potassium These plants can grow in soils which their organic contents are low even 2 These group of plants exists in low flat and gentle slope areas Plants which are located in the 5thsite and mostly consist of Haloxylon persicum 97 7 may be found in sites where averageannual temperature is high the drought period is long 303 days and high vapourization Thisplant can grow in low rain areas 100 millimeter and where the amounts of pebble and graveland silt of soil are low This species prefers sandy soils and non layered confiners In this habitatthe amounts of chlorine sodium sulfate and salinity are high In the 6th site due to highconcentration of some characteristics of soil like sodium chlorine and salinity soil makeslimitations osmotic potential of soil is too low then no vegetation can exist
