102AbstractPolymer blending is one of the appropriate method for developing polymer properties andreinforcement of their drawbacks The weak point of incompatible polymer blend is theirweak interfacial that couldn t prohibit dispersed phase from coalescence Reactivecompatibilization of polymer blend with reaction among polymer active groups in theinterphase induces interphase thickening and morphological stability PET PA66 polymerblend has high potential to reactive blending due to various active groups along theirchains However due to short time of melt blending the extent of reaction isn t enough togain phase stability So the use of chemicals that could react with both polymer like epoxyresin as an effective compatibilizer for coupling two polymer in interphase is common Onthe other side solid state polymerization could make a suitable condition for reactionamong polymer chains while polymer degradation is prohibited The effect of SSP on the extent of interphase reaction between PET and PA66 polymerchains was investigated by measuring rheological and morphological properties ofPET PA66 polymer blend Further more investigation was carried out to compare theextent of reaction between PET PA66 and PET PA66 EPOXY polymer blend before andafter SSP The results indicated that SSP process was successful to stabilize the blendmorphology The obvious increase in morphological stability was attributed to the increasein reaction among polymer chains in interphase Also the influence of end group concentration in compatibilization of blend was studied The results show the positive effect of increasing eng group concentration on the extent ofreaction in the interphase Key words polymer blend solid state polymerization epoxy resin PET PA66 interphase
